READING AND/THEN WRITING.A DIVAGATORY EXPLORATION OF THE PROCESS.BY STEVEN BENSON

To read is to write (sooner or later)……

 

I have got into a habit of buying intriguingly entrancing-appearing tomes on subjects clustered around:

QUEER

Walking/peregrinatory, not in a direct line, loitering; divagating { I also experience diverticular disease/diverticulitis….}; periphrastic in writing style, multi-claused in walking-at-tangents; or, more, ambling, making athwartwise links.

The physical flaneurie is mirrored, psychogeographicaly in the ambulatory style.

Of course, this has all been done- to various degrees/in multiple ways- oftimes before:politically, socio-culturally,stylistically.

Three-more or less- random books, that are CATALYSTS:

I have read most of Finch’s Sebald book; but NONE of the other two.

Sebald nearly ALWAYS gives a framework…for forward/backward velocity in most incarnations(alive or dead)

You see: I wrote a roughy 10-part across-a Covid-landscape creative/academic hodgepodge: I loitered, but was also CONTAINED/limited (by Covid precautions); I am to be incarcerated again pre and post major surgery.

So

1. What is flaneurie/wandering (inter alia nomenclatures) amidst the ruins of free market(propped up by the chaos {THEORY?} of Cummings and his lackey, Blojo)?
2. What peregrinations are possible after major surgery.? (Listening to music or a podcast is some genus of flaneurie)
3. So, this (metaphorical/literal) walking is circumstance -dependent: politically, psychologically, and, crucially, physiologically…..

(BRANCH-LINE ){railways are superb opportunities for flaneurie et al}:

I am BUYING most of the books; NOTE, not reading; buying. OK, I am not going to torment myself with angst,therunto. Reading a few (mainly my LGBT Book Group choices/reads).Even finishing these….

But as well as the (capitalist)aggregation: there are creative manifestations to this process; as I say: the catalysts to WRITING by/for myself:a blurb,intro, a title even.

This is the antithesis {ha ha} of the dialectical (within the academy) model: it OVER-RIDES the synthesis (never mind the thesis or antethesis of the dialectically materialistic matrix which is the conduit for, and requirement of the academic industry (and sel-perpetuating Foucauldian hegemony; a rhizome off tuber off a branch off power structures).
