1.Find like minds; FREE, critical-thinkers, who are OUTSIDE the box of restricting hegemonic behavior, politics and theory.
2. These can be
a. individual nurturing, friendships, which accept you/me
b. Social groups which provide a level playing field(from which to move outwards, when you so decide; and where you can establish what else you have got in common,AS WELL AS, eg, being lgbt)
c.academic, non-establishment, radically pedagogic(including peer teaching/learning )contexts. I have found one!
These three sometimes overlap!
3.ESCAPE oppressive hegemonies, which try to control/restrict you/me, if I/ you no longer have the interest, will, strength and/or need to challenge them(eg traditional university departments and their hegemonic, sometimes straight-jacketed followers)
So, put these into operation, through finding conducive contexts and Utopia no longer needs to be “towards”; it is NOW and ongoing; a REALITY-in practice and theory!(Ok, as a predominantly open gay man, I still have to negotiate heterosexist, and sometimes directly homophobic, hegemonies and heteronormativities, but I have stronger inner and outer resources, from which to empower me to do that.)
