THE ILLUMINATED CAFE IN SPRING

Sitting

In the

April Sun:

A month of

Rebirth

More than death

(Mum would have liked that).

The sun

Shimmers

Over the tabletop

In the

Illuminated cafe

In Bohemian Utopia

As I sip

Espresso

And read Sontag

On Camp

And am, and can be,

Myself;

Illnesses and limitations

Nothwithstanding

(Or not withstanding

Standing.)

A loose community

A second home.

The Illuminated

Cafe

Good title, and I like the whole idea of the illuminated cafe, and the image of the sun shimmering on the tabletop is beautiful. There you are being yourself. And you’ve brought Mum and Susan Sontag into the poem — illuminating!
